I first created Lilou in my early twenties after spotting – and missing out on – a beautiful 1960s jacket in an op shop. So I made my own. I wore that original version with Rick Owens leather pants, Costume National boots, and a sheer Zambesi dress.
Over time, Lilou evolved with me. It became a polished alternative to a blazer during my corporate years, styled with fitted dresses and pencil skirts.
I’ve always loved its retro shape and minimalist feel – a little Jackie O, a little understated chic. But if you lean toward an edgier look, it can also give off those Japanese cool-girl vibes. What I particularly love is that it sits somewhere between a cardigan and a blazer. It has enough structure to feel polished, but is relaxed enough to wear almost anywhere.
I wear Lilou constantly – relaxed with shorts and a singlet, with jeans on a casual day, client-facing with my favourite A-line skirts when I need to look sharp, or on my shoulders over a dress for an event.
All of the colourways shown here are my own personal pieces that have become my must-haves and never-fails. It’s one of those styles that quietly earns its place in your wardrobe because it works across so many scenarios.
