We are a bespoke design company offering contemporary silhouettes and distinctive statement pieces, crafted in luxury fabrics to an exacting construction standard. The winter and summer collections are available year-round for clients who travel. Our styles provide the foundation for a personalised garment in fit, colour, and detail, with every piece made to measure and tailored to suit how the client chooses to wear it.

Founded by designer Fleur Clarke, Reine draws on a broad technical foundation in garment making, patternmaking and traditional tailoring. Fleur is formally trained and has been making clothes for more than 40 years, specialising in complex patternmaking for the first 12 years of her career and working with couture and high-end fashion houses before leaving the industry for a successful corporate chapter. Her long-standing love of beautiful fabrics, quality fashion (and shoes!), thoughtful design, and a lifelong obsession with creative expression eventually led her back to the studio. Reine is the result.

With strong convictions about creating unique, well-made pieces, Fleur has always admired individuality and believes clothing should reflect the distinct character, proportions, and real lifestyle of the person wearing it - not a contrived fashion story or passing trend.

Equally important is wearability. We have little interest in creating garments that spend their lives hanging in wardrobes waiting for the “right occasion”. Every piece is designed with the intention that it will be worn often, travel well, and work effortlessly with the clothes a client already owns. Whether understated or more directional, the goal is always to create garments that become favourites rather than orphans in the wardrobe.

We don’t rely on offshore factories, mass production, or look to leading overseas brands to dictate what we create, and we’re not interested in cutting corners to make a quick buck. We’re also careful about trends - if something doesn’t suit the client, we’ll be upfront and suggest alternatives that better reflect their lifestyle and figure. Integrity matters more to us than making a sale, and clients are never pressured to leave with something that doesn’t feel right. It is just as important to us that they look and feel fantastic.

Built through reputation, relationships, and referrals rather than large advertising budgets, our brand has grown through a loyal local and international client base who return time and time again, valuing the personal service and consistency that come with working directly with the designer. Operating exclusively from our atelier allows us to spend more time with our clients and invest in thoughtful design, quality fabrics, and skilled workmanship rather than the costs associated with maintaining a traditional retail presence. The result is a business where design decisions are guided by craftsmanship rather than spreadsheets.

All garments are produced entirely in New Zealand using traditional tailoring methods and premium fabrics sourced through local agents. Each piece is designed, fitted, and cut by hand in the Herne Bay atelier before being sewn by a dedicated Auckland-based team of skilled artisans.

The process begins with selecting a base style from the sample collection. From there, we explore colours, fabrics, and design detail options and, where helpful, use technology to create images that help clients visualise the finished garment. Measurements are taken in person or virtually, and calico toiles are prepared for fittings, allowing the design to be refined precisely to the client’s proportions. Once fabrics and details are confirmed, the garment moves into production.
