How does Reine work?

Reine is a completely made-to-measure design house, custom-tailoring our collection to ensure a perfect fit at no extra charge.

We are a locally-operating New Zealand based business dedicated to designing, tailoring, and producing our collection pieces using traditional techniques. Our emphasis is on creating exceptional garments made with top-quality fabrics, components, and trims. Each garment is produced to the highest quality standards, and we take great care in every step of the process.

We regularly introduce small, curated collections of statement pieces that join our permanent styles, and offer garments suitable for warm and cool climates throughout the year, catering to the convenience of frequent travellers.

Additionally, we also create bespoke event and evening wear upon request. With expertise in every aspect of evening wear tailoring, our designer masters elegant simplicity while embracing technical challenges to deliver stunning showstoppers.  We make our garments for every body, every size, every budget.

While some styles may appear familiar or commercially ubiquitous, we openly acknowledge that we're not seeking to 'reinvent the wheel'. Instead, we view classic designs as essential staples for the modern wardrobe.  Our collection styles, when fitted properly, and in the fabric of choice, will be completely individualistic to the client's personal style and proportions.  Our colour palette is our designer’s personal preference, however, we source preferred colours, and fabrics appropriate for the garment.

Our fabrics and sample garments undergo thorough scrutiny and wear-testing during the design and development process. This rigorous testing ensures our customers can cherish and enjoy our garments for years to come. In the rare event of a defect or issue with the garment, we always act in good faith to address the concern.

Recognising that one size does not fit all, our experienced designer and team possess extensive knowledge of couture pattern making and tailoring. As a result, we provide a complimentary made-to-measure service to ensure each garment fits perfectly, without the need for additional post-purchase alterations.

Our local customers can view the collection in person at our workroom.  For non-locals and international customers, we offer virtual consultations - this has worked seamlessly to date.

Building strong relationships with our customers is essential to us, and many have become great friends. As a rule, and company policy, we maintain strict confidentiality and never share any customer information, gossip, or details.

Where is the Reine collection produced?

We take great pride in our collections, which are designed and manufactured entirely in New Zealand. From the initial pattern making to the final cut, each of our garments is handcrafted in our local workroom.

In our commitment to local production, we source our fabrics, trims, and components through suppliers and agents within New Zealand. This allows us to support the local industry and maintain control over the quality and sustainability of our materials.

With our entire team, including all contractors, being based in Auckland, we solidify our unwavering dedication to the local fashion community. Through seamless collaboration, we foster an environment that nurtures creativity, craftsmanship and real relationships.

Throughout our operation, from design to manufacturing and beyond, we uphold the values of quality, authenticity, and local collaboration. Choosing our brand not only means embracing exceptional craftsmanship but also supporting the rich heritage of New Zealand's fashion industry.

Can I find Reine in retail stockists?

We are a 'made to measure' design company that exclusively serves our customers through a direct-to-customer model, bypassing the traditional wholesale route to retailers.

At present, we have made the deliberate decision to sell our collection directly from our atelier workroom. By doing so, we have eliminated the additional costs associated with operating retail stores, allowing us to offer our garments at fair prices without inflated margins.

Our unwavering dedication lies in prioritising our customers, and utilising our extensive experience in garment design and fit. We take immense pride in ensuring the highest quality materials and expertise go into the construction of each and every one of our garments.

Can I try on the collection in person?

Our collection can be viewed in our Herne Bay Atelier.

To immerse yourself in our collection or discuss personalised garments, we kindly request that you schedule an appointment with our Studio Manager, by contacting us at hello@reine.nz.  We would love to see you!

In addition, we extend our custom-tailored services through virtual consultations, allowing you to enjoy the same exceptional experience from the comfort of your own space. In most cases, we provide the convenience of sending sample garments for you to try on and ensure the perfect fit.

How does 'Made to Measure' work?

Experience personalised luxury with our made-to-measure garments, tailored to your unique proportions. Unlike mass-produced items, each piece in our collection can be expertly tailored, ensuring a perfect fit that flatters your body.

At Reine, we cater to every body and every size. Our made-to-measure service comes at no extra charge, because we believe exceptional quality and fit, should be accessible to all.

If you're located outside of Auckland, initiating the process is as easy as contacting us at hello@reine.nz. We'll schedule a convenient time for a detailed discussion about your preferred style, fabric, and desired fit. Through a personalised video call, we'll guide you through the process of taking your measurements, enabling us to create a toile garment in calico fabric.

Once you receive the toile, we'll arrange another meeting to assess the fit and length, ensuring absolute satisfaction before proceeding to cut the final garment. This streamlined process is particularly beneficial for our overseas and out-of-Auckland clientele. In certain cases, we can even courier a sample for you to try on, provided we have your size on hand.  A 25% deposit is taken before couriering the garment to you - please see policy below.

Alternatively, you have the option to visit our Auckland atelier for an in-person appointment, immersing yourself in the world of bespoke fashion.

We strive to deliver your custom-made garments within 1-3 weeks of purchase, aiming for promptness without compromising on craftsmanship. Rest assured, there are no additional charges for our custom fit service. We'll keep you informed of the shipping date once your garment enters production, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.

What is your sample shipping policy?

A 25% deposit is taken before shipping a sample/s to the customer for fitting and virtual fitting purposes.   If a New Zealand based customer does not wish to proceed with the purchase, the deposit will be refunded in full.  If an overseas 'out of New Zealand' customer does not wish to proceed with the purchase then the deposit will be reimbursed minus the courier cost.

The sample garment is the property of Reine while with the customer.  If the garment is damaged, worn, or lost while in the customers possession, then the deposit will be forfeited and in some cases an extra charge will be incurred to cover the cost of the garment.

We ask that you handle our carefully crafted garments with care and respect. Avoid exposing them to animals, cooking odours, or any elements that may compromise their quality.

A dry-cleaning fee will be charged if garments are not returned to us in the same condition they left our studio.

We kindly request that you coordinate courier delivery times to ensure you are present to receive the samples.

What is your lending to stylists and industry policy?

Since our launch in July 2022, we have been thrilled to see our garments featured in editorial shoots and showcased at events. We’ve welcomed the opportunity for stylists and industry colleagues to borrow our pieces. However, while we’ve been excited to share our work, this experience has also presented challenges, sometimes pushing boundaries and leading to significant losses for us. Moving forward, we will be lending our garments more selectively and with careful consideration. We hope you understand, as we do not wish to cause any offence.

Our Terms

Borrowed garment/s are the property of Reine while in the stylist's possession.  If the garment/s are damaged or lost while in the the stylist's possession, a charge will be incurred to cover the cost of replacing the garment.

We ask that you handle our carefully hand crafted garments with care and respect.  Avoid exposing them to sharp objects, animals, cooking odours, or any elements that may compromise their quality.

If the garments are soiled, please contact Reine prior to dry-cleaning to determine the appropriate dry-cleaning process required for the specific garment/s.
