Celebrating Three Years of Reine

Celebrating Three Years of Reine

We launched in July 2022 with a small collection – from a designer with strong opinions on lapel widths, garment quality, and a clear vision for the brand. Since that first sale (we did a little dance in the studio!), we’ve grown through reputation and relationships – thanks to those who took the leap of faith with us, came back again and again, and quietly spread the word.

We’ve now produced hundreds of made-to-measure garments for a growing circle of loyal local and international clients (some now good friends). It’s been built on perseverance and the quiet satisfaction of doing things our way – no inflated markups, no shortcuts on quality, no waste, no compromise.

We didn’t expect to connect so genuinely – with clients, industry peers, and a new Insta community. And we couldn’t have predicted just how transformative a well-fitting garment could be. Watching someone light up with confidence, feel comfortable, and entirely themselves in our clothes has been the most rewarding part of it all.

There have been a few hurdles… Achieving visibility in this industry isn’t straightforward. We’ve had to find our own path – whether it was through a (new to us) social media landscape, breaking through industry gatekeeping, building credibility, or navigating assumptions about what a ‘real’ brand looks like – including expectations to align with today’s generic marketing formulas. As it turns out, in a world chasing reach, we’re content with depth. Our small, thoughtful following suits us perfectly.

We’re proud to have engaged with our clients in a way that’s been consistent, authentic, and professional. And so grateful we stuck to our guns – never giving up our personal privacy or falling into the trap of curating a lifestyle that wasn’t real. We just made clothes.

“It’s been a crazy ride – but I wouldn’t want it any other way. I spent years evolving Reine before we launched, and I’ve worked nearly every day since. Fuelled by equal parts passion, grit, and a deep love for the craft. There’s been a back fracture (inconvenient), demanding situations (plenty), a crash course in saying ‘no’ (not my default), and a whole lot of self-reflection (occasionally torturous). But the creative fire’s still well and truly lit, driven by my love of all things design, consistently happy clients, solid, supportive friends, and the thrill of what’s still to come.”
